About an Energy Circle
Introduction - The Energy Circle is a group of people who have
completed one or more programs that have been presented by the
Hermitage. It can be as small as two or three or as large as fifty or
sixty. Actually the numbers have very little to do with the Energy
Circle. What is important is what happens at the Energy Circle. Purpose
- The main purpose of the Energy Circle is to create a network for
people who are interested in continuing to build a positive thought
process and to share the experience of meditation. It is a very
important follow-up that can help the participants to develop positive
habits of thinking, speaking, and living. The Place - The Energy Circle
is able to meet almost anywhere; however, a neutral place (either in a
community room at a Bank or Savings and Loan Association or party room
at an apartment complex or a classroom in a school) is ideal. One
important reason for this kind of place is to keep the entertainment
aspects of the meeting in the background. Too often when Energy Circles
are held in a private home it is very easy to get caught up with
refreshments and local conversations. Any atmosphere that will help to
keep the meeting directed towards positive sharing, and group
meditation is best. When to have the Meeting - Actually the meeting can
be held at anytime convenient for most of the people in the group. It
is helpful when starting an Energy Circle to check with the coordinator
of the area to find when present Energy Circles are meeting. It is
ideal if there are Energy Circles throughout the area on different
nights to accommodate as many people as possible. Frequency of
Meetings, - It is best if the meeting can be assigned to a definite
time and space on a regular basis. If the meeting is to be held every
Wednesday at 7:00 p.m., for example, it is possible for people to avail
themselves of the opportunity without having to contact anyone about
the availability of the meeting. Any regular pattern will make it
easier for people to schedule time and attend. Note: It is best to give
a closing time as well as a starting time and to be prompt about
closing on time. Obviously, if individuals want to stay longer or go
out for a bite to eat etc. that is always optional. Leadership for the
Energy Circle - Our experience has been that the most effective method
of dealing with leadership in the Energy Circle is to form a committee
of at least three or four people who can share the responsibility of
being physically present at the meetings. This kind of an arrangement
does not force one person to be there every time. It gives the group an
opportunity for the input of a different personality and creates a
sense of shared responsibility.
Essentially the leader for any one meeting has the following
responsibilities:
1). To get the meeting started on time 2). To direct the meeting toward
positive sharing. Success Stories, for example are used to relate one
positive experience or a positive person that you met during the past
week. 3). To make arrangements for leadership for the meditation. It is
not necessary for the leader to guide the meditation. He/She could
designate someone else who would be interested in preparing or leading
the meditation. Another alternative is to collect a set of recorded
meditations that last for a maximum of fifteen minutes. A variety of
alternatives is always good. 4). To prepare the announcements for that
particular meeting. 5). To make sure that the meetings end on time.
Energy Box - We have found that a box of some kind containing the names
or the description of the projects that the individuals in the group
are working on becomes a very important focal point for meditation.
This box can be kept in a central location and additions are made to it
on a regular basis. It is then possible during the group meditation to
use an image to energize all of the names and circumstances that are
described on the pieces of paper in the box. It is advisable to ask the
members of the Energy Circle to remember that box in their private
meditations when they are in between Energy Circle sessions.
Refreshments - Refreshments should be kept down to a minimum. With our
busy world many individuals may want to arrive at the time that the
meeting begins and leave immediately after. An elaborate kind of
refreshment may make it difficult for people to leave immediately.
However, it is important to note that if members of the Energy Circle
wish to spend some time together it is always possible for them to
leave in smaller groups and to meet at local restaurants or cafes to
continue their sharing after meetings. This kind of sharing is
certainly very valuable but it is not an essential part of the Energy
Circle. Energy Plus - The Energy Plus meeting is an addition to the
Energy Circle and can be either a regional or a local event. The
purpose of the Energy Plus meeting is to attract local professional
people who can give further instructions to the members of the circles
in any area that is related to personal growth and development.
Regional Meetings - Regional Meetings that are held once a month are
most effective. It is a way for participants to attend the Energy
Circles and at the same time get further input without having to give
up another night of their schedule.
Suggested Activities for the Energy Circle:
1). Case working (for Silva graduates)
2). A mystery box/envelope
containing an object known to only one person in the Energy Circle. The
object of the exercise is to have the members of the Energy Circle go
to level to see if they can perceive the contents of the box/envelope.
